Window blinds require a lot more care than curtains. But at the expense of this, they give style and sophistication to any room, be it residential or office. However, to keep them looking good, they need to be maintained regularly.

Fabric vertical blinds
Remove all the strips individually first from the bottom of the chain, then roll up each lamella in turn. This should be done very carefully, without rubbing them together or crushing them. Dip the rolled blind rolls in warm, slightly soapy water and leave them for a few hours to soak. Pour out the dirty water and replace it with clean water without scrubbing them. Let them drain.
Then, in the same order, put the blinds on the windows while they are still damp. So they dry faster without creasing.
Cleaning roller blinds
All you have to do is to regularly wipe the shutter mechanism or cassette with a dry or slightly damp cloth, and clean the fabric itself with a vacuum cleaner set to the lowest suction power, with a special brush-shaped nozzle.
If there is deep soiling moistened in a solution of lukewarm water and non-aggressive detergent. Then you remove the remaining cleaning agent from the material with a clean sponge or cloth and leave the blind open until it dries completely. Keep in mind that roller blinds are not machine washable or ironed!
Blind cleaning „Day and night“
It is enough to unfold the blind to the maximum possible length and clean its surface. The same rule applies to these blinds too – you need to first remove the dust with a vacuum cleaner with low suction power.
For light refreshment, the best solution is a cloth or soft sponge moistened in a solution of lukewarm water and detergent. Day and night blinds should not be washed in the washing machine or ironed.
Cleaning pleated blinds
You have to wash the pleated blinds after removing them from the window frame, you soak them for 15 minutes in a large amount of lukewarm water to which you have added washing powder for white or coloured textiles, according to the colour of the blinds.
Then you vigorously open and retract the blind so that the cleaning agent reaches everywhere. You rinse the pleats with a shower, and let them dry for about 12 hours. Then you install them back on the window.
Aluminium blinds
Horizontal blinds made of aluminium are often used in our homes. Before you start wiping, carefully clean them with the special nozzle of the vacuum cleaner to get rid of the accumulated dust.
We recommend that you still remove them from the windows for their basic disinfection, as you risk spreading some of the dirt from the blinds onto the surrounding walls.
Prepare in advance a cleaning solution of hot water and 1-2 spoons of natural vinegar (avoid artificial acetic acids, which can damage the colour coating of the blinds).
Wash both sides of each plate with a soft sponge soaked in water. Let the metal blinds soak for a few minutes to dissolve the grease and dirt on them. Then, again, carefully wipe each strip with a sponge dipped in clean water. Finally, wipe them with a dry cloth to avoid stains.
Wooden blinds
Wooden blinds should never be cleaned with water. You can just wipe them lightly with a damp cloth. Another option is to vacuum them. You can also use special detergents for wood for more effective cleaning. In this case, you can also use car wax.
Cleaning PVC blinds
To clean them as best as possible, remove them from the window and immerse them in a solution of warm water, a few spoons of natural vinegar or a little soap. Let them soak for several hours. The water should not be hot, otherwise you risk losing the original appearance of your blinds.
Finally, rinse them with clean cold water.
Plastic blinds
To clean plastic blinds and shutters, fill your bathtub with warm water and add soap to it. Clean the blinds with a sponge soaked in the solution. For more stubborn stains, a few drops of wine vinegar can be added to the soapy water.
